And I say that and I'm hoping this doesn't bring any shame or judgement because if you had a parent that taught you to do that - that's not your fault. You were born into that - you had no say in which parents you would have. Just like you had no say in what language you were taught in infancy - you had no say in the love language your narcissistic parents taught. If there was manipulation or narcissistic abuse - which is normally with someone who enabled or was codependent that's not your fault. You didn't choose to be taught manipulation or narcissism or codependency. I'm stressing this so we can put shame aside and focus on what to do.
